We are affiliated to The Quilters Guild of the British Isles. Feel free to contact us with any questions or pop along to one of our meetings.
Where it All Began
Guildford Quilters started in 1986 as a breakaway group from Mole Valley Quilters as many members lived in the Guildford Area. Eight ladies met in members' homes monthly and, after an exhibition of their work , the Group grew hugely.
Some years later, a church hall in Merrow was hired, again monthly, for main meetings and home groups continued in members' homes monthly too.
Around ten years ago the Group moved yet again to Albury Village Hall in Albury, near Guildford, as it was a larger venue and could accommodate the growing membership.
Every three years we organise an Exhibition of our work for three chosen local charities. This has continually increased our Membership which now stands at 80 Members.
We are a friendly and welcoming group of enthusiasts who share a love of quilt making and patchworking using various fabrics and techniques.
All levels of ability in this absorbing craft are welcome, from absolute beginners to expert; we are continually exploring traditional methods, modern and artistic.
Where We Are Now
These vary between guest speakers, in- house speakers, day workshops, in-house technique workshops (run by Members), fabric sales, social events, outings, just-sew sessions and charity sew-ins for Linus and the Royal Surrey Hospital.
