Gail Lawther Lecture and Workshop
All Welcome – please join us!
Gail Lawther at Albury Village Hall, GU5 9AD
Gail is a quilter and textile artist and has been working full-time with fabric and thread for many years (gaillawther.co.uk.) She designs and stitches quilts for books and patterns, and creates larger pieces on commission. She writes craft books, teaches stitchers of all levels, and gives talks about her work; as well as working with groups all over the U.K. She has also taught and exhibited in New Zealand, France, Spain, Belgium, Holland and the Channel Islands.
Talk: Wednesday 10th November, 10am: ‘Seaside Celebrations’
We do like to be beside the seaside!
Gail’s talk will include lots of quilts she has created to celebrate sun, sand and surf. It will be illustrated with real quilts (no slides) followed by Q&A and opportunities to handle the quilts.
Cost of talk:
Guildford Quilters Member : FREE
Non-Members (pay at door): £5
Workshop: Thursday 11th November, 10-4 ‘Doodlebirds’
This workshop is suitable for stitchers of any level including beginners but experienced stitchers will probably get a little further on with their design during the day. A great way to get used to free machining because with this ‘scribble-stitching’ method, it doesn’t matter where the lines go! Build up a pheasant, heron, cockerel or oystercatcher, then create a subtle stained-glass effect with scribbled outlines of black machine-stitching.
Cost of workshop:
Guildford Quilters Member - £30
Non-Members (payable at time of booking) - £35
If you would like to join the Workshop please email for an application form to: email@example.com
