Judi's Lecture will begin at 1030 a.m.
Followed by a Question & Answer Session
Please make sure you have joined in good time
Non-Members Welcome - £5.

Judi is a well-established international patchwork quilter who gives lectures and workshops.  She enjoys all kinds of patchwork and quilting but particularly loves the bold designs of modern quilts. She is a member of both the Modern Section of the Quilters Guild of the British Isles, and the US-based International Modern Quilt Guild.  She is a qualified quilt judge and serves on the Quilters Guild judging committee. She has judged at various international quilt shows and last year she organised the judging for the Festival of Quilts first virtual show, which had over 650 entries from around the world.

Using examples, and her unique insight of the topic, she defines what makes a quilt “Modern”,  and how it differs from other quilt styles. Judi reckons that many of us will realise we’ve been “quilting modern” without knowing it!

This meeting will open on Zoom at 10 a.m. and the workshop will start at 1020 a.m. and run until 120 p.m.

Members £12   Non-Members £15    PRICE REDUCED                Booking now open to non-members

The "Storm at Sea" pattern provides an amazing sense of movement. All the pieces in the block have straight edges but the way in which they’re put together produces the illusion of curves. Judi says: “It can be tricky to piece because of the combination of 45 degree and 60 degree angles. The answer is to foundation piece it, and I have plenty of advice, tips and tricks to make this a breeze. We will cover foundation piecing in general, how to match points accurately and also discuss possible quilting ideas. Whether you are a beginner or an experienced quilter, now is the time to finally stitch up a “Storm”!

  •  Please email chair@guildfordquilters.co.uk to book a place on this workshop.
  •  You will be emailed a Booking form by our Speaker Coordinator.
  •  On receipt of payment your place will be secured and requirements for the workshop will be emailed to you. Zoom link will be emailed 3 days before the event.
