A Guildford Quilter’s garden party
Following on from our successful coffee morning meeting in July, members met for a splendid lunch party in August.
Gerry, our chairperson, once again opened up her lovely home and garden, the sun shone and we all contributed to a marvellous buffet lunch. There was certainly a party atmosphere as we relaxed with elderflower and rose.
“Show and tell” began with Doreen showing 2 fabulous contrasting pieces: the first an intricate design of circles done in her favourite liberty fabrics and hand quilted. The second was a huge quilt, based on black, with multicoloured interlocking circles in Batik fabric. It combined hand and machine piecing and will be hand quilted… when she has time!
Virginia showed us her William Morris quilt with striking colours and based on the famous Strawberry Thief design which was much admired by everyone!
Joan brought a bag full of lovely things she has made in Covid lockdowns…they included smart floral silk trousers and a bag from recycled plastic packaging.
Theresa always brings colour to her work, and today she showed us 2 lovely bold quilts she had designed, full of vibrant summery colours and imagination.
It was a lovely meeting to celebrate the summer and being able to meet in person once again. We are all looking forward to our first ‘live’ meeting back inside Albury hall in September.
